MTechLab is featured as an accelerator case study in a column by an investment manager at JNPMEDI Partners, published by InvestNews on 29 October 2026 under the title “Early-stage startups need design as much as funding.”
The column divides early-stage support into direct support, such as commercialisation grants, and indirect support, such as consulting, mentoring and networking. It argues that technology turns into a business when the two run under one plan, and that setting the right direction early matters most in healthcare, where clinical evidence and hospital purchasing add steps that other industries do not face.
Two tracks: R&D and investment readiness
According to the column, JNPMEDI Partners connected MTechLab’s needs through two tracks. On the R&D track, it linked the company with Inha University’s open laboratory to strengthen its technology. On the accelerator track, it brought MTechLab into the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) investment-attraction programme run with specialist investors, which covered IR refinement, investor matching and a demo day.
Selected for TIPS
With both tracks in place, MTechLab was selected for TIPS, Korea’s private-investment-led programme for technology startups, on the recommendation of a fund that JNPMEDI Partners runs as a co-GP. TIPS combines private investment with government R&D funding, so it asks for both mature technology and investor validation. The column presents MTechLab as an example of R&D support and investment support working as a pair.
Led by CEO Hyeon-Man Baek, MTechLab is an MRI-based medical-imaging technology company based in Songdo, Incheon. It provides MRI image-analysis services, develops anatomy-specific MRI dielectric pads and carries out research and development in electroceuticals.
We thank JNPMEDI Partners for sharing MTechLab’s story.
